I am not certain that a leech can kill its host, probably not. But I am certain that if enough leaches attach to a host, and suck enough blood out of the host, then the host can be killed. It’s just physics. A living host, let’s say a mammal, needs a certain amount of blood to survive. If you put enough leaches on the host, sucking enough blood out of the host, then the host dies. So although one leech probably can’t kill a host, get enough of the little buggers, and maybe they can. Actually, they can. See EU. In fact, given that this is a metaphor, they absolutely can. Of course this is just a practical metaphor, but let’s run with it. There are leaches and there are hosts in our society or economy, pick. Here are my picks on who are the leaches and who are the hosts:
HOSTS
1. Folks who work in the private sector.
2. Entrepeneurs.
3. Innovators.
4. Business owners.
5. Employers.
LEACHES
1. Unions.
2. Folks reliant on welfare, either individual or corporate (i.e. G.M., Chrysler, AIG, etc.)
3. Over-paid government employees. (Not all government employees)
4. Beneficiaries of government programs that are lobbied for and have little legitimacy. (i.e. ethanol producers)
5. Government.
Now let us reflect a bit. I have set forth two lists. If your butt was in a jam, which list would you want to go to? If you really needed a solution, which list would you go to? If you wanted to succeed at anything, but you needed some other folks , which list would you go to? See my point? It is obvious who the leaches are and who the hosts are.
We can analyze this on an economic basis as well.
First of all, now don’t get mad, but unions are anti-American. They are the antithesis of America. There is no stand alone, no rugged individualism, no personal responsibility in a union. It is a collection of workers who get paid the same regardless of how skilled or proficient the individual is at what he does. A union is a miniature version of a communist nation. Of course the brightest break out and lead, prosper, exploit, etc. The weakest, get kicked out. But the vast middle, all get the same break regardless of their differentials.
Next. Obviously somebody or some corporation on welfare like GM and Chrysler and AIG, is a leach. They couldn’t make it on their own so they went to the government and opened their mouths to the redistribution teet.
Next. Government workers do not pay taxes. Sorry folks but if you actually paid taxes, the general account balance of government would go up when you allegedly paid them. It does not and you don’t. The façade that government workers pay taxes does not hide anything when a passing glance of analysis is employed. How in the world does one claim to pay taxes when their payments do not increase the balance in the general account? It does not. It is a façade. It is nothing more than a book keeping sleight of hand, unlike a private employer who actually has its general account balance diminish when it pays taxes, as does the net of the employee. Government workers don’t pay taxes. Other than the hard workers, government employees are leaches.
Next. Corporations and individuals who are the beneficiaries of the government policy that subsidizes their pursuits, notwithstanding the negative economic impact, are leaches. Ethanol is the biggest one right now. It actually takes more energy than ethanol saves to produce ethanol. See my point?
Next. Government. This one’s a no brainer. If there is no private sector, what does a government have to govern? Not much. Total leach as proven by the point that its existence is critically dependent on something for it to do. When it only governs itself, which is where we’re heading, it fails; every time!
Here’s the problem and here’s the point of this essay. We are at a tipping point. We have too many leaches and not enough hosts. And it’s worse than nature. Because a leach is a leach is a leach in nature. In human life, a host, if “leached” out, can become a leach and get some short-term satisfaction. And that is what is happening, the tides are turning, folks are transitioning from hosts (workers, producers, innovators, entrepreneurs) to leaches. (See G.M., Chrysler, AIG, Ethanol, etc. Folks going medicaid or in Wisconsin Badger Care, quietly going on food stamps, etc.) They are saving themselves in the short term by switching sides. The usual argument is something like this, actually two arguments:
1. Everybody is doing it.
2. What is my choice? No choice. I want to survive. I’ve got kids to feed today. Screw the future.
Of course both of these arguments defy American morality and principle. But contrare, both arguments, both positions, do pay the bills for now.
The question is this: What if we become a nation predominated by leaches? Can we live off government without private enterprise? Nope. Can we be entrepreneurs in the private sense when the leaches through government are looking for any angle to suck some more blood? Nope. Can we even be American anymore, you know rugged individualists with belief in self actualization, success and triumph? Nope. This is the crisis we face today. Are we going to give up our liberty, our freedom, our ability to be Americans for some short term satisfaction? I don’t know. I’m not pessimistic or optimistic. I just don’t know. I know what I will do. I’ll cover my families ass. What I won’t do is become a leach. I’ll find a way, which by the way, is what hosts do. They shake off the leaches and move on. Maybe I’ll open a wine bar. The rest of you, who go leach, welcome to pathetic-ville.
As to the Occupy Wall Street Crowd? My thought is to ignore such lice. But I’ll scratch the vermin a bit here. Stupid, scum, ignorant, pathetic, retarded, loser, un-manly, dependent, spoiled, ridiculous, hypocritical, evil, stinky, gross, anti-American, screw-wads. They won’t bring me down. What they will do is bring themselves down, if there is even a lesser stature than their present stature that they can obtain. Why, because even in a communistic system, if you don’t take responsibility for your own situation, you get the short shift. Now if they were protesting on Pennsylvania avenue? Then I’d be with them. Of course this will never happen. They are shrouded by their ignorance and all the other traits I listed.
God save America, please.
That’s my Reetzality for the day.
Thanks for the read.
