I have been criticized for referring to President Obama as “King” Obama by a constant blog reader named John. I have done so because so many of the policies that President Obama relentlessly pushes are contrary to what most Americans want. For example, nationalized medicine, spending, “stimulus” spending, “back door” tax increases, amnesty for illegals, etc. Thus, “King-I know what’s good for you better than you do. Obama.” But Today, I learned that I was wrong. Although a King oft times claims a God given birth right, royalty, I know of none that have thought of themselves as God. Today MSNBC had a headline story regarding the G-8 Economic summit in Italy. There was a picture of President Zarkozy of France, President Obama, and Prime Minister Gordon Brown smiling under the headline. The Headline was as follows: G-8 LEADERS REACH CLIMATE DEAL, TACKLE ECONOMY. WEALTHY NATIONS AGREE ON TEMPERATURE CAP IN FIGHT AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING. What? They have a thermostat for Planet Earth? I never knew and didn’t really believe it could be true. Yet, in reading the article, it actually stated, “President Barack Obama and the leaders of the other wealthy nations agreed that global temperatures should be kept from rising more than 2 degrees Celsius, or 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.” Wow. They can control the temperature of the earth. Again, wow!
But Really? I did some research to confirm a few of my beliefs. I found Harvard astrophysicist Dr. Willie Soon who states that the Earth has seen a reduced level of sun spot activity for the past 18 months, and is currently at the lowest levels seen in almost a century. Dr. Soon says “The sun is just slightly dimmer and has been for about the last 18 months. And that is because there are very few sun spots.” He says, “when the sun has less sun spots, it gives off less energy, and the Earth tends to cool.” He notes that 2008 was a cold year for this very reason, and that 2009 may be cold for the same. Bingo. It’s confirmed, the earth’s temperatures are affected by sun spot activity. He goes on to reference the Little Ice Age between 1645 and 1715 when there was very little sun spot activity. There was another period of time when human population was a tiny fraction of today’s population and there was huge temperature increase, so much so, semi-tropical vegetation was growing in Northern Europe. (Too bad the kings didn’t think of Climate change then. The edicts they could have passed.) He concludes by stating that the correlation between global temperatures and sun spot activity should lead us to reconsider whether man caused increases in atmospheric levels of CO2 contribute to temperature fluctuations. Dr. Soon works for Harvard University and the Smithsonian institute so I think its fair to state that he is very likely to be more educated on the subject of climate change and its cause than any of the three deities listed above.
Why do I call them deities? Because they, with a smile of confidence, have agreed to control the earth’s temperature which must mean, by scientific standards, they have agreed to control sun spot activity, control the sun. Wow, these dudes have some power! I wonder if they can control volcanic activity too? Volcanic activity throws tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. Of course they can. The control is implicit in their agreement.
So, now I’m going to refer to President Obama as Theobama. No typo here. “Theo” in Greek means God. So Theobama translates into God Obama. And shouldn’t it? After all, he can control the sun. I’m not even sure the God I worship can do that.
The headline did get one thing right though. Theobama is tackling the economy, just like Dick Butkus tackled running backs. He sent them crashing to the ground. Which is ultimately, in order to create more need and subsequently more government, what Theobama really wants, to tackle the economy Butkus style.
